My sister was asking how to make white beer bread from scratch because in Mexico she can't get self rising flour like in the other recipe I posted. So, this one is for her....
Basic Beer Bread Mix:
3 c all-purpose flour
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp baking powder (make sure it's fresh!)
12 oz beer
Mix together everything but the beer then slowly add the beer and stir. Place into a glass loaf pan that you have greased well with butter. Batter will be thick. Bake at 375 degrees for about 40 min. or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and the top is lightly browned. Let cool for about 10 min. then remove from pan and let cool on a rack.
If you are interested in the whole wheat version...it's here.

I made this 2 nights ago as an alternative to regular bread. (In other words, it was hot and I was lazy). We really like it. My husband called it a big biscuit. Maybe I made it wrong, but it was really moist on the inside. I like it that way.
So thanks, once again for a great recipe!
