Baked Potato in the Crock-pot

So a long the same lines, I decided to do my baked potatoes in the crock too....with homeschooling and my busy schedule, it's easier to have things slow cook in the crock-pot all day instead of rushing home and heating up the oven and

trying to hurry dinner along while everyone is "starving"!

Wash your potatoes, wrap in foil and place in your crock-pot in the morning and turn on low. Now all you have to do is set up Baked Potato Bar....shredded cheese, sliced green onions, chopped chives, sour cream, ranch and quickly steam some broccoli and you're good to go.......ya know, you could probably wrap some broccoli in some foil and stick in there too and it would have all been done!

Katie saw this and was so excited because it is easier for her to use the crock pot all day than to use her propane. So she baked them and had baked potatoes and brocolli for supper. I guess this works best when the electricity stays on all day but at least if it goes off and then comes back on it will continue to cook because you do not have to go back and turn it on again.
Your pictures of everything look so yummy. You are a great cook.
love, mom

I'm new to crockpot cooking, so bear with me, but how long Exactly should they cook? I'm really excited about this one. I'm a picky eater, but potato bar? Bring it on. Blessings, Whitney

Hi Whitney!
I'm happy you can use this easy and tasty meal idea! I put my potatoes in my crock around 9am give or take an hour. That's what I love about the crock pot, it's pretty flexible on timing....and then cook till dinner time 5-6pm. Most things can cook in a crock on low for 6-8 hours. =0)
Happy Crock potting!

I often bake sweet potatoes (minus the foil) in my crockpot. They're yummy with a little butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Thanks! We just got 10lbs of potatoes and I didn't know what I was going to do with them. This makes having baked potatoes much easier and not heating up the whole house!

Sounds yummy. I think I know what's on the menu tomorrow at my house. The great thing is that the kids could do the work for me. Haha!
